Fun facts about Hydrangeas

Hydrangeas are a very unique and versatile flower. There are over 75 species of hydrangeas, most of them native to Asia, especially in Japan, but you can find them all over the world. Our fresh flowers come from Colombia, South America. Here, the name for this magnificent flower is “Hortensia”.

According to Japanese legend, a Japanese emperor once gifted hydrangeas to a woman he loved because he was neglecting her in favor of business affairs. Because of this story, hydrangeas are said to represent heartfelt emotions, gratitude, and understanding.

Blue Hydrangeas

Dollar Hydrangea offers you one of the many species of hydrangea in white, blue and green: The Mophead, who it’s part of the Hydrangea macrophylla family. PlantAddicts says that these flowers are the most popular grown in home gardens and landscapes. These are also commonly known as French hydrangeas.

According to Balz Noor, the word "Hydrangea" is from Greek descent: "Hydor" means water, and "angos" means jar or vessel. This explains hydrangeas' need for lots of water to thrive.
